POPI ACT
Dear Valued Clients
We respect your privacy and are committed to keeping your personal information secure and confidential. In compliance with our obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”), we are currently notifying everyone on our database that we hold publicly available business information about them and the purposes for which we intend the data to be used.
Throughout the Privacy Policy you will find information required by POPIA regarding the categories of personal information collected from you; the purposes for which we use personal information, and the categories of third parties your data may be shared with.
You also have the right to request disclosure or action of personal information, including:
- The ability to delete all the personal information collected about you, subject to certain exceptions.
- To opt-in or opt-out of direct marketing to you.
- To object to processing of your personal information, or
- Appeal any rejection of access to your personal information.
- If your personal information is collected by us.
- The specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
- The ability to correct or delete certain personal information collected about you
Complaints
- A complaint is understood to be initiated by a third party in response to actions / omissions taken by Allied Ratings / its employees / members.
- Third parties may lodge a complaint, in writing, with a member within 5 working days of the incident they are complaining about having occurred.
- The complaint shall be acknowledged, in writing, by the member within 2 working days of receipt.
- The verification manager shall then establish the Complaints Committee which will then investigate in order to establish the basis of the complaint.
- The committee conducting the investigation into the appeal / complaint shall be independent from the activities for which the appeal / complaint was lodged.
- The verification manager shall make use of the relevant document to record the complaint, the process followed, and remedial actions implemented.
- The complaint should be resolved within 30working days of receipt.
- In the event of additional time being needed the complainant will be informed thereof and the reasons therefore in writing.
- Findings will be discussed and agreed by the members and the outcome communicated to the complainant by formal written communication.
- Allied Ratings s retains responsibility for all decisions at all levels of this process.
- The appeals process shall be handled in a non-discriminatory manner and shall in no way prejudice the third party who has lodged the appeal.
